Our Structure

British Waterways is managed through its headquarters based mainly in Watford and Leeds and through nine local waterway units. Each waterway unit is headed by a general manager, or a director in the case of London and Scotland. Contact British Waterways.

The Chief Executive and Executive Directors are based at our Head Office in Watford, along with the marketing & customer services, finance, technical, ICT and legal departments.

At a strategic level, the organisation is overseen by the Board, comprising the Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Non-Executive Directors, who are appointed by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and (in the case of two Board Members) by Scottish Ministers.
